Founded in 1946, this is a news service of the Southern Baptist Convention. Stories go out to 40 state Baptist newspapers with a combined readership of 1.16 million. There are also offices in Richmond, VA; Atlanta; and Washington. Formed in 1946 by the Southern Baptist Convention, and supported with Cooperative Program funds, Baptist Press (BP) is a daily (Monday-Friday) international news wire service. Operating from a central bureau in Nashville, Tennessee, BP works with four partnering bureaus (Richmond, VA; Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; and Washington, D.C.), as well as with a large network of contributing writers, photographers and editorial providers, to produce BP News. Baptist Standard in Plano, TX is a weekly newspaper written for Southern Baptists in Texas. Regular features include Around the State, On the Move, a religious cartoon, and Bible study. Deadlines for the publication fall one week before issue date.
