E&P
Formerly known as Hart's E&P. Written for key petroleum professionals and industry stakeholders in the financial, research, education and government communities. Covers the latest news and trends facing the oil and gas industry. Each issue focuses on exploration and production innovations as well as the latest technology. Provides readers with technical solutions, management and financial information and market intelligence. Serves the upstream oil and gas industry including: major integrated oil and gas companies, independent oil and gas companies, national/state oil companies, integrated service companies, main contractors and/or subcontractors, drilling contractors, service companies (seismic, exploration, production, construction), consultant or consulting firms, supply companies, insurance or financial services, educational institutions, government agencies, research laboratories and others allied to the field. E&P DOES accept bylined articles/submissions. Email the Editor with your idea. Submission Guidelines: Normally, they like to see a "case history" approach to articles, where the problem, your solution, and quantifiable results are described. The article should be strictly non-commercial. They are looking for a good technology story -- with facts and not superlatives -- that will help readers to do their jobs better. The feature articles are typically 1,100 words with two graphics for a two-page article. Graphics can be pictures, artists conceptions, tables, graphs, charts or diagrams; any kind of visual element. They should be high resolution; e.g., close to 300 dots per inch in about a 4 x 5 inch size. On the subject of graphics, their artists prefer .tif files for bitmaps and .eps files for vector graphics. They work with Adobe Illustrator, so they will accept .avi files as well. If you choose to send an Excel chart, please also send the page with the numbers than generated the chart, in case they have to re-create it. Most of the time .jpg files will work, as long as they haven't been condensed so much that they lose resolution. A good test is to print the graphic on your office printer. If it looks well-defined and focused, it probably will work for them. As far as the articles themselves, they use a modified form of the Society of Petroleum Engineers rules for its papers. The SPE doesn't allow authors to name their companies or products in its papers. We think that's a little restrictive and less-than-informative for readers. They allow authors to name their company or product once in the article. Afterward, you can certainly use "the company," "the product," "the team," etc. Also, unlike SPE, they do not use references at the end of the article. If a statement is quoted, please include the attribution in that paragraph. That keeps the article focused on the technique or technology and minimizes the chance of it coming out like a puff piece for the company. IMPORTANT: 1. Your article should be authored by
