Gap Year Escape
Gap Year Escape is a travel blog started in 2009 as a means for the Founder to chronicle his gap year spent backpacking abroad. With hundreds of Facebook fans and thousands of Twitter followers, Gap Year Escape has rapidly gained a massive following particularly amongst students looking to “blow off some steam” before plunging themselves into the job world. What started off as a personal travel blog has gone on to become a leading source for travel ideas and advice. The blog is partnered with some of the biggest names in the travel and backpacking industry in an effort to actively reach niche audiences. Gap Year Escape was founded by Freelance Travel Writer Amar Hussain. Having previously worked in management consultancy and marketing, Amar decided to take some time out and “pursue his dream of travelling the world indefinitely”. He has now returned to being a professional, currently a Project Manager with Accenture. His interests include photography, history and philanthropy. In addition, Gap Year Escape employs dozens of contributing Bloggers. Blog entries on Gap Year Escape cover everything from travel advice, 'Best Of' lists, and the best places to go in a particular destination to travel product reviews and the 'Photo of the Week'. Posts can be divided by continent/region; and posts are always accompanied by large images. The blog is updated on a frequent basis, with posts appearing two to three times a week. PR opportunities include reviews, guest blogging and Hussain is open to hearing from PRs and can be contacted via email or through his Facebook and Twitter pages. Though he admits to being “generally on the move”, he suggests sending an email at amar@gapyearescape.com to which will respond as soon as he can.
