Established in 1971 and written for members of the Houston business community. Focuses on current economic and advertising trends. Highlights analysis of the impact of new product development, trade show coverage, regional corporate reviews and examination of regional financial shifts. Articles cover such diverse industries as technology, real estate, retail, banking, office management, construction, automotive and healthcare. Provides strategic advice for Buffalo area small business owners and entrepreneurs. Regular sections include the Special Reports which are always organized around one or two topics, and Lists, which details Houston area firms and industries in a similar topical framework. The Houston Business Journal DOES ACCEPT weekly byline/article submissions but prefers that they are based in Houston. The journal goes to press on Wednesday and they have their editorial meeting on Thursday. Best time to pitch is before the meeting by email. The team prefers breaking news exclusives. They do not just do interviews with experts as stories but will take expert insight as analysis for their stories. Experts MUST be from the Houston area.

Houston Chronicle is a daily, morning newspaper written for the general public in Texas. The state's largest daily newspaper, it is also the only daily in Houston. The newspaper offers full market coverage focusing on local business news and events, state and national economics, personal finance, government, business, personal computing and technology. Feature topics include the arts, health, beauty, entertainment, fashion, food, lifestyle issues, home, gardening and travel. Types of articles found in the paper include breaking news, trends, features, local company profiles and syndicated columns. The Business section runs daily. The Houston Chronicle has been part of the community for more than 100 years and is dedicated to serving Houston. Each year, the paper offers free advertising space and other assistance to some 250 non-profit organizations including local and national educational, arts and cultural, social service, civic, medical, and environmental groups. In addition, they offer time and volunteers to a wide variety of fundraisers and charitable events. The staff holds 30 minute meetings every morning at 11am and every evening at 4pm to discuss the previous edition, the current edition and the upcoming edition, if trying to reach a journalist please do not call during these times.
