i newspaper
Background and Format: Founded in 2010, the i paper was originally designed as a concise national newspaper taking content from its sister publication The Independent. In 2016 The Independent announced that it was moving to a digital only format, and that the i paper would be sold to Johnston Publishing. The official switchover of publishers happened on the 11th of April 2016, after which a Northern Ireland edition of the paper also began production. The i paper now features content written by its own editorial team, as well as work taken from independent.co.uk, the London Evening Standard, the Washington Post, and The Economist, plus other publications from within the Johnston Publishing portfolio of titles. In September 2017 the i paper launched a new edition of its Saturday and Sunday iWeekend paper, which was promoted as a substantially stronger package, still remaining true to i's concise, quality ethos. The paper takes a mainly neutral position and has a focus on brevity, quality, value, fairness and dialogue.Audience and Readership:85% of readers live outside of London.Deadlines:10:30am - 30 minute Editorial meeting2:30pm - Catch-up meeting8pm - Initial deadline10:30pm - Final deadlineNews - Likes information with as much notice as possible, hopefully a day or two in advance.Features - Tends to work around one week in advance.iWeekend - Likes to receive information on the Monday/Tuesday before the Saturday of publication.Circulation:Source: ABCMonthly Unique Users:7,300,000 (Source: Publisher)Ad rates:For ad rates e-mail advertising@inews.co.ukOther Information:Instagram: www.instagram.com/theipaper/Gorkana meets...Oliver Duff, Felicity Morse, i - September 2016The write up can be found here. The video can be viewed here and here.Awards:2019 - British Media Awards, Media Brand of the Year (gold) 2019 - British Media Awards, Commercial Team of the Year: Boxing Clever (nominated)2019 - British Media Awards, Print Product of the Year (bronze) 2019 - British Media Awards, Digital Product of the Year: inews.co.uk (silver) 2019 - Online Media Awards, Editorial Campaign of the Year: Life on Universal Credit (nominated) 2019 - Online Media Awards, National News Site of the Year (nominated) 2019 - newsawards, News Website of the Year (UK and International): inews.co.uk (highly commended) 2019 - newsawards, National Newspaper of the Year (weekdays) (highly commended) 2019 - newsawards, Grand Prix (nominated) 2018 - Press Awards, Front Page of the Year: Tory Party leaders turn against Boris (nominated) 2018 - Travel Media Awards, National Broadsheet Newspaper Section of the Year (nominated)2018 - Online Media Awards, Editorial Campaign of the Year: NHS Cuts (nominated)2018 - Online Media Awards, National News Site of the Year (nominated) 2018 - Online Media Awards, Breaking News Story of the Year: Designer Babies (highly commended) 2018 - Online Media Awards, Best Designed Site: inews.c
