It was started in 1997 by Canadian Robert Kennedy and was owned by Robert Kennedy Publishing until September of 2013 when the magazine, along with Clean Eating and MuscleMag, were purchased by Active Interest Media in El Segundo, California. The magazine is currently owned by Outside Inc. Designed exclusively for women who have a serious interest in fitness and physique. Editorial focus is on nutrition, training and supplementation for female exercise enthusiasts using free weights, scientific stretching and cardio programs. Photographic images portray the advancement of women's health, strength, fitness and improved body shape.
