Background and Format:
BBC Asian Network aims to provide the latest music for the Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan diaspora in UK, available on DAB :12B, Freeview: 709, Freesat: 709, Sky (UK only): 0119 and Virgin Media: 912.
The station is targeted towards people of South Asian descent (Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans) and those with an interest in South Asian affairs. The audience is predominantly made up of listeners aged 35 and under. The BBC cannot accept traditional product press releases because the BBC cannot endorse products.

BBC Asian Network will introduce a new look to weeknights from Monday 9 January 2017. The following editorial changes have been announced:
Comedians and actors Mawaan Rizwan and Emily Lloyd-Saini will open the week with a new show on Monday nights (9pm-midnight).
Harpz Kaur will now have an extended role on Breakfast across the weekend (Saturdays and Sundays, 6-10am). Harpz joined the station from a community radio station in Leeds last year. She can be reached at harpz@bbc.co.uk
Guz Khan takes on a new weeknight slot (Tuesdays, 9pm-midnight) bringing a more after-hours flavour to his show with his own brand of ‘comedy and grime’. He can be reached at guz@bbc.co.uk
Yasser Ranjha's BBC Introducing show now moves to Wednesday nights (9pm-midnight). Yasser will also be taking control of The Official Asian Music Chart (Saturdays, 3-6pm) where he’ll be running through the Top 40 streamed and downloaded Asian tracks each week. A new show, Friday Night Residency (9pm-midnight), will set the tone for the weekend, featuring mixes from a range of new DJ talent on rotation. Nottingham-based new talent for the station is Jasmine Takhar who will be the first to step up to the decks, joining from community radio stations Kemet FM (Nottingham) and Westside Radio (Southall).
