Launched in 2000, BBC History Magazine is published by Immediate Media and is aimed at readers interested in different eras of history. Covers periods such as the Romans, Vikings, Medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Victoria and the First & Second World Wars, historical figures, articles by leading historians and journalists, book reviews and interviews with academics. It also has sister publications, BBC World Histories and History Revealed. The media pack is available to download from here.

BBC History Magazine has had a comprehensive redesign, which is a culmination of a six-month period of research and development. Key features of the design include a new masthead and cover design, updated signposting and navigation, and new colours and fonts. New sections of the magazine include ‘Backgrounder’, which shines light on current affairs by putting them into a historical context and a regular column from historian and broadcaster Michael Wood. Private equity group Exponent is launching Immediate Media Co, a new consumer media and publishing company which wholly owns the print and digital output of Origin Publishing, Magicalia and six titles purchased from BBC Worldwide: Radio Times, olive, Homes & Antiques, Gardens Illustrated, Girl Talk and All About Animals. In addition to its wholly-owned print and digital platforms, Immediate Media will operate long-term licences for 23 BBC Worldwide titles, including BBC Gardeners’ World and BBC History Magazine, and is contracted to publish BBC Top Gear Magazine, BBC Good Food, EasyCook and Lonely Planet Magazine.
Immediate Media Co launches on 1 November. From that date, staff currently at BBC Magazines, Origin and Magicalia become part of the new company, existing editorial contacts for all titles will not change.
