Background and Format: BBC Wildlife Magazine covers the latest news, discoveries and reviews on wildlife, conservation and environmental issues. It brings readers wildlife experiences through photography and articles that aim to shed new light on popular species. Each issue includes 3-4 full-length features on animal behaviour, with both British and foreign angles. Regular sections include: news, in-depth behavioural features, Q&A with the experts, 'How to..' offering practical tips, an events and products guide for wildlife friendly consumers, book and product reviews, travel section, and a letters page. The magazine publishes regular supplements, which are planned 6 months in advance. Each year there are 2 travel supplements. Note: the team is not interested in press releases about pets, they are not relevant to their readers. The revamp is the culmination of a period of reader research and development, and features new content and sections with a greater prominence given to the magazine’s core areas of British wildlife, photography, conservation stories and guides to understanding and enjoying nature. New sections aim to present ideas for wildlife-watching, provide insights into topical wildlife news stories and more space has been allocated to the title’s panel of leading experts, which will now include Bill Oddie as a new monthly Columnist.
