Background and Format:
The Evening Times publishes the latest in news and current affairs for Glasgow and its surrounding villages. It also has a features section, a large advertising section, sport, motor and more. It is owned by Newsquest Media Group which is part of the US media company Gannett Co.,Inc. It is a sister paper of The Herald.
The Evening Times is an evening tabloid newspaper sold on Monday to Saturday. It’s Glasgow’s only evening title. It was founded in 1876 as a sister paper to what was then the Glasgow Herald. Original publishers George Outram were bought by Sir Hugh Fraser in 1964 and then sold to Tiny Rowland’s Lonrho group in 1979. After a spell of owner-management from 1992 to 1996 as Caledonian Newspapers, the Herald and the Times were acquired by Scottish Television, who were rebranded the Scottish Media Group (later SMG).
Since 2003 it’s been published by Newsquest (Herald & Times), who also publish The Herald.
Audience and Readership:
Aimed at people in West Highlands and Central Scotland.
The Evening Times is published 3 times daily. They also publish a Saturday magazine entitled Etc
Distribution:
City of Glasgow, Greater Glasgow area, and more widely around Strathclyde, the West Coast of Scotland and central Scotland, as far afield as Fort William, Campbeltown, Dumfries and Perth.
