Peer-reviewed journal directed toward members of pharmacy and therapeutics committees and other drug decision-makers of hospitals, HMOs and managed care facilities. Intended to assist readers in evaluating and selecting drug products for their formulary. Publishes clinical review articles, original research articles, and news on FDA drug approvals, formulary management trends, new therapy recommendations, drug comparisons, off-label uses of medications, late-stage investigational drugs and rational drug utilization. Mission is to present timely and practical clinical information to support appropriate and cost-effective formulary management.
Frequent departments in the magazine include: Focus On, which reviews newly approved drugs; FDA Drug Approvals, which provides an overview of the latest FDA approvals, drug actions, and advisory committee recommendations; News Capsules, which provides updates on drug studies and pharmacy trends; and Washington Update, which offers a monthly report on federal legislative and regulatory activities.
