Background and Format: Future Science OA is an online, open access, peer-reviewed title from the Future Science Group. The journal's broad coverage includes all areas of biotechnology and medicine, as well as topics in biological, life and physical sciences that are of relevance to human health. The journal embraces the importance of publishing all good-quality research with the potential to further the progress of medical science. All original research articles will be considered that are within the journal's scope, and have been conducted with scientific rigour and research integrity. The journal also features review articles, editorials and perspectives, providing readers with a leading source of commentary and analysis. Submissions of the following article types will be considered: Research articles Preliminary communications Short communications Methodologies Trial design articles Trial results (including early-phase and negative studies) Reviews Perspectives Commentaries Audience and Readership: Scientists in the biotechnology field Deadline: Average lead time to online publication: 14-16 weeks Circulation: A circulation figure is not available. Authors are required to comply fully with the journal's Disclosure & Conflict of Interest Policy as well as major publishing guidelines, including ICMJE and GPP3.

They should focus on science-based stories that are better told be a journalist than an expert. Email is always the preferred method for pitching. Writers should explain their idea and list the sources they plan to speak with. Also include one or two clips, or links to online writing samples. Editors try to respond in two to three weeks, but if you haven't heard back within a month feel free to follow up.
