Background and Format: Launched in 2005 as i-on Edinburgh magazine , it was followed by i-on Glasgow in 2007 and i-on Aberdeen in 2014. The titles merged at the end of 2015 to become become i-on, with the aim of offering readers an authoritative view of each city in Scotland, with current news, views and offers. Each issue includes a mix of lifestyle features, covering people, culture and events, style, health, beauty and wellbeing,travel, homes and interiors and food and drink. Audience and Readership: Locals and visitors, particularly urban professionals. Deadline: Varies between second and third week of the month. Gorkana Consumer Alert: Monday 10th October 2009 A free lifestyle magazine has been launched in Scotland’s capital to give the glossies a run for their money. The monthly magazine, i-on-Edinburgh, has been set up by a magazine journalist from Edinburgh and a colleague who have spent several years working for the Spanish media. Aimed at well-off young professionals, it will feature topics such as property, restaurant and pub guides and fashion and is the first time a free magazine in the capital has gone head-to-head with paid-for titles such as Elle, Vogue and Marie Claire. The first 10,000 copies of the monthly magazine will be distributed in upmarket bars, restaurants, hotels, shops, gyms and hair salons.
