KNBC-TV made its debut as KNBH-TV (standing for "NBC Hollywood") in 1949, and changed its call letters to KRCA-TV (for NBC's then-parent company, the Radio Corporation of America) in 1954. The station's callsign officially changed to its current designation in 1986, though it had been informally known as KNBC since 1962. Notable alumni include former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw, former Today show host Bryant Gumbel, former Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak, and Dateline NBC correspondent Keith Morrison.
