Aims of the journal:
Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise and Health (formerly Qualitative Research in Sport and Exercise) is an international journal solely dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of qualitative research in the sport, exercise, and health sciences. Providing a forum for qualitative researchers within all the social scientific areas of sport, exercise, and health the journal offers researchers, practitioners, and students' access to cutting edge empirical inquiry, scholarly dialogues, and the latest developments in qualitative methodologies and methods.
Content:
Open to all qualitative approaches, Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise and Health aims to be eclectic in content. It will publish refereed articles covering the diverse landscape of qualitative research. There are three issues a year to include empirical research articles, methodological articles, theoretical articles that address conceptual issues underlying qualitative research, review essays, and book reviews.

Each episode features two investigative reports and two sports personality profiles. Real Sports has examined such issues as the use of the performance-enhancer Androstenedione by high school students, women in boxing, college academic eligibility requirements, the ratings war between ESPN and FOX Sports Net, the Salt Lake City Olympics scandal, and the white minority playing in the NBA. Personalities profiled by the show have included; Derek Jeter, Lou Holtz, Bobby Valentine, Meadowlark Lemon, Curt Flood, and Jimmy Johnson. RealSports features a line up of renowned sports journalists providing reports, including Jack Whitaker, Frank Deford, Armen Keteyian, Lesley Visser, Mary Carillo, and Jim Lampley. The show is hosted by television veteran Bryant Gumbel and was launched in April 1995. In general, producers work on a four to six week lead time. All information sent to Real Sports should be somehow related to sports and be of interest to a national audience. Queries regarding the appropriateness or direction of a pitch should be made to the public relations department. HBO does not disclose its viewership ratings and does not carry advertising. Real Sports is watched predominantly by adults interested in sports. The network, a subsidiary of Time Warner, is available via cable systems and satellite dish systems across the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
