WLVI-TV is the CW affiliate for the Boston market. The station is owned by Sunbeam Broadcasting Corp. WLVI-TV broadcasts locally on channel 56. The station was founded in 1966 as an independent station and was the first in Boston to launch the Ten O'Clock News in 1984. Ten years later, the station was acquired by the Tribune Broadcasting Co. and in 1995, the station became WB56.
In September 2006, WB merged with UPN to become CW. In December 2006, the station was acquired by Sunbeam Broadcasting Corp. and terminated its entire news operations. The staion carries a 10pm newscast that is produced by sister station WHDH-TV. The station accepts information on anything interesting in the community, someone doing something unique, or a profile of an organization. Station will refer to the newsroom fax number as it's main fax number.
