2 News Today - WDTN-TV covers News,WDTN-TV is the NBC affiliate the Dayton, OH market. The station is owned by Nexstar Media Group, Inc. WDTN-TV broadcasts locally on channel 2. WDTN-TV debuted on March 15, 1949 as WLWD-TV, owned by Crosley Broadcasting Corporation. It then changed hands multiple times from Avco Broadcasting, Grinnell Communications Corporation to Hearst Broadcasting. In 1998, WDTV-TV was acquired by Sunrise Television Corporation. Then in 2002, WDTN-TV was purchased by its current owner, LIN Television Corp. Over the years WDTN-TV has been a pioneering station setting industry trends in many different areas. It was the first station in the country to show a colorcast as well as one of the first station to use radar for weather reporting. In addition, WDTN-TV was the very station where Phil Donohue debuted in 1967. Since WDTN-TV first launched, it also won numerous distinguishing awards in many different categories of the Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and the Ohio Associated Press Broadcast Awards.
