Face the Nation - CBS Television Network
Face the Nation, one of the longest running news programs in the history of television, is a weekly show that first aired on November 7, 1954. The program broadcasts from Washington D.C. Its viewers are adults interested in the latest public affairs and political issues. The guests of the show, who engage in discussion through a roundtable format, include government leaders and politicians. CBS News correspondents engage the guests in a lively roundtable discussion focusing on current topics. Face the Nation airs nationally at various times each Sunday. PR professionals are advised to send all press releases to the executive producer or producer. Time-sensitive information should be sent by fax or e-mail. All other information should be mailed. Keep all pitches brief, but specific and include appropriate contact information. The producers of the show are interested in receiving the following types of PR opportunities: book reviews; all kinds of company news; events listings; personality profiles and interviews; public appearances; rumors and insider news; and industry and social trend stories. Lead times vary depending on the nature of the story. It is best to contact members of the production staff by phone, fax, or direct mail. Bob Schieffer served as host from 1991 to 2015. This show offers a digital podcast. A podcast is a downloadable video or audio broadcast show. Most podcasts are available by subscription through an RSS reader or other aggregator. The fundamentals of working with podcasters are the same as with traditional journalists at traditional media outlets: respect their schedules; take time to watch or listen to their material to learn their interests; and only contact them if/when they want to be contacted.

Facebook
Serves as a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. Allows users to upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet. Users can create profiles, pages and groups. Users can also set their language preference for their account as well as select a language for sending invites to their friends. Social networking sites can be valuable resources for tracking response and reaction to press releases, advertising campaigns, products and services. However, the administrators of these sites often do not generate their own editorial content and generally do not want to be contacted with press materials. The outlet offers RSS (Really Simple Syndication).
