Maxim
Aimed at the young, modern man. Incorporates smart service journalism and an irreverent sense of humor. Covers everything essential and important to a man's life, from sex to sports to clothes to cars to fitness to finance to music and movies. Monthly sections include: Stuff, former print magazine that folded in October 2007; Circus Maximus, offering irreverent advice; Rated; and 24 Hours Left to Live. The magazine is known for its revealing pictorials featuring popular actresses, singers, and female models. The outlet recommends that publicists think hard about what they're pitching and whether the product fits in with the Maxim demographic before they send press releases. They usually don't originate articles from press releases, but the buyer's guide sections may occasionally draw from interesting items that have accumulated. They strongly prefer to receive pitches by e-mail. Clips are helpful, but play a secondary role to the strength of the pitch itself. Media Alert: Monday 20th April 2009 Maxim's June issue, which is on sale 23rd April, will be the last UK print edition. The UK based division of the title will continue online from May onwards. Newsstands will then stock the US edition of the magazine for UK readers.
