Raleigh International blogs
Background & Format: Launched in May 2013, Raleigh International blogs are blogs written by the charity's team leaders and volunteers "to give you (readers) a flavour of what life is like on our programmes." working on remote community and environmental projects. The blogs provide content centred around the volunteer programmes of the charity which are the Raleigh Expedition and the Raleigh International Citizen Service (ICS) and the work they do worldwide and particular countries like Costa Rica, Malaysian Borneo, Nepal, Nicaragua and Tanzania. Many posts are descriptions of the work the teams do and the various indviduals and their roles. Other posts consist of Spanish for work in the Central American countries and individuals volunteers reflecting on "adapted creativity" to teach topics such as pregnancy. The blogs also discuss Raleigh alumni, livelihoods, natural resource management, water sanitation & hygiene and youth in civil society. The Bloggers: Raleigh International blogs initially started for one country, Tanzania and expanded to reflect the charity's focus on creating lasting change for young people in the world. They focus on the topics of livelihoods, natural resource management and water, sanitation & hygiene. They focus on young people because "there are almost 7.5 billion people in the world and more than half are under 30. That's the biggest youth generation ever. Often undervalued, underestimated and expected to underachieve, we believe young people are in fact one of the most important resources the world has." PR opportunities: PR opportunities are limited. The charity emphasises volunteers' "main priority is to focus on the completion of their projects. If the blog has not been updated for a few days, please be patient and rest assured that our volunteers are working hard and will add an update as soon as possible." To discuss potential PR collaboration, the charity can best be reached by the email: info@raleighinternational.org
