Y Money Y (previously known as Iona's Young Money Blog) is dedicated to providing help and solidarity for young people when it comes to their finances. The blog is written by Scottish-born Finance Writer and musician Iona Bain and her father Simon Bain. She created the blog in 2011 as a result of a couple of years of the recession in play and wanting to create "sympathetic, nuanced or helpful media coverage that was on the side of young people". Nominated for the Headlinemoney Rising Star of the Year award in 2014, Iona is able to write about financial products of all kinds, from protection to pensions, as well as key financial industry trends. Having established the Young Money Blog in 2011, she has gone on to write for a number of consumer-facing publications, including the Daily Mail and the Herald, as well as corporate clients like HSBC and the Co-operative. She has also written a column for Baillie Gifford's child savings website since 2011. Iona has appeared on Radio 1, BBC Scotland and Channel 4 News to discuss financial issues affecting the younger generation. She was was also Senior Reporter at the FT's award-winning B2B title Financial Adviser, building up significant knowledge of financial services. Background and Format: The focus of the magazine is to entertain, inform and educate through articles, up to the minute news stories, quizzes, competitions and cartoon strips. The magazine is targeted to stagecoach pupils, aged 9 - 16. Young artists, dancers, musicians and performers from all areas of the entertainment business.
