Bio
Antiques Roadshow is one of PBS's top-rated television programs with almost 15 million viewers weekly. The program uses a one-hour format and a very simple concept. Members of the public are invited to bring antiques and collectibles to an Antiques Roadshow event for free verbal appraisals. The appraisers are specialists from leading auction houses, independent appraisers, and dealers from across the nation. The program visits close to ten different cities for various appraisal events during the season. The cities are picked each season by the production supervisor and the production coordinator. Roadshow cameras capture the exciting moments when appraisers offer the often startling disclosures about an object's market value. Antiques Roadshow is produced for PBS by WGBH-TV Boston. Major funding is provided by the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Additional funding is provided by First Union. The program accepts location pitches, including museums and galleries (depending on location).
