AZoM.com (the A to Z of Materials) was formed with the primary aim of increasing the use of Advanced Materials by the engineering and design community worldwide with an empahssis on advanced ceramics, novel metallic alloys and state of the art composites. The website aims to become the primary materials information source for the engineering and design community worldwide. It also aims to be the primary publicist of news, views and developments within the materials science community and is totally focused on the needs of the end users of materials. To achieve this aim, all of the educational, informative and news content on AZoM is intended to be easy to access and search for and is provided on a free of charge, no subscription, no charge per article, totally free basis. The idea to launch AZoM.com originated in late 1999 from a group of materials scientists who fully appreciated the potential of Advanced Materials but who were frustrated by the lack of awareness of the end-user community.
