Background:
BBC News was first broadcast in 1922, with a first television broadcast airing in 1948. BBC News is the news operation for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The department is the world's largest broadcast news organisation and generates about 120 hours of radio and television output each day, as well as online news coverage. BBC journalists are located throughout the world, with the service maintaining 44 foreign news bureaus. The main UK news operation is based at New Broadcasting House in central London.
