Nationally- distributed broadcast television network providing a variety of news, information and entertainment programming to over 200 local affiliates. Assets include an extensive news reporting and public affairs division, exclusive coverage of major sporting events around the globe via CBS Sports, and original first-run comedy and drama series via CBS Entertainment. CBS programming is also available through downloads at www.google.com. Primetime and other programming is available for viewing on the Internet and through mobile devices for a fee. In January 2006, CBS Corporation created CBS Vision, a research unit designed to explore and offer insight on emerging technologies, media consumption patterns and advertising value in the media marketplace, and to share that knowledge with all CBS Corporation divisions as well as outside clients and potential partners. CBS also offers a new media wireless service called CBS News To Go. This offering, for a subscription fee, allows viewers to obtain breaking news alerts in both video and picture formats. The service also allows viewers to receive information from Entertainment Tonight. This service became available in March 2006. In August 2006, CBS News expanded its medical and health coverage with a partnership with WebMD, the leading provider of online health information for consumers and physicians. The partnership was designed to provide CBS Evening News, The Early Show and CBSNews.com with its daily content and resources, including interactive tools for diagnosis and healthy living.
