Viewnam aidsmap newsNAM is a London-based charity and publishing company that “works to change lives by sharing information about HIV and AIDS”. In a statement on their website, they say: “We believe that, wherever you are in the world, having independent, clear and accurate information is vital in the fight against HIV and AIDS. It enables individuals and communities affected by HIV to protect themselves, care for others, advocate for better services and challenge stigma and discrimination.” The organisation’s website houses a blog that carries the latest news, information and developments with regards to HIV and AIDS and NAM's work. A number of different staff members of NAM contribute to the blog. Sub-Editor Greta Hughson joined NAM in 2008 and oversees NAM's printed and online work. She also volunteers for advocacy group Patient Information Forum. Beth Isherwood is NAM's Donor & Customer Support Coordinator and is responsible for processing donations from supporters and helping out the fundraising team. Blog posts largely consist of goings-on the the NAM office and relevant event or fundraising news. Posts also highlight partnerships NAM is involved in and updates to their various AIDS treatment directories, online tools, guidebooks and titles. Posts are normally 300 to 500 words in length. As the aidsmap blog is mostly used for organisational updates, PR opportunities are limited to development news, case studies, expert comment and advice, and survey-based and scientific research placement (which may be relevant for elsewhere on the NAM website). The team can be reached by the central telephone and email addresses as well as the online contact form.
