DubCNN.com was created in 2001 to provide an outlet for existing artists, aspiring artists, labels, producers and companies that we’re being isolated by other forms of media. The ambition was to introduce a new kind of online magazine, one which kept things simple, one which could slowly and steadily make a difference to a genre which was often ignored.
They quickly became one of the pioneers of Online Hip-Hop journalism – even being the first to trial new features in any genre of website;
Before iTunes – DubCNN was the ONLY site delivering daily MP3 streams and downloads from their own network with the support of artists and labels. They also sold their 2003 CD release “Westcoast Unified” as a digital download – an unprecedented step.
Before YouTube – DubCNN was the ONLY music site delivering video content in streaming WMV and downloads including music videos, exclusive interviews and behind the scenes content.
In 2006 the site was relaunched with a new look and functionality and now fully merged with WestCoast2K.net - who had been online with the same goals since 1999. From then on DubCNN became the one-stop site to get all your Westcoast Hip-Hop news, interviews, audio, reviews and much more – Daily!
In 2012, to mark their 10 Year Anniversary, they relaunched once again, and in 2015, they re-modeled DubCNN.com to give readers the best experience whether on Desktop, Tablet or Mobile.
