Hyperallergic covers art and offers the latest news and information on exhibits, artists, current issues and other related topics. The Hyperallergic Newsletter is sent out weekly and includes a letter from the editor with a recap of the most popular and important stories from the week. It also publishes a Weekend edition covering issues in art, books, films, theatre, dance and music. Hyperallergic only accepts pitches through their submission form online. They no longer accept pitches via email. Before submitting, please go over the site topics and current stories. They accept; reviews. reported stories, interviews, photo essays and opinion pieces. If you decide to write a review, they request that the review is timely and submitted while or before the exhibition is running. Some specifications on the pitch submission is included below direct from Hyperallergic: "-Keep it fairly short, two paragraphs tops. -After you’ve pitched your story, introduce yourself (in a few sentences). If you’ve never written for us before, include links to a few clips or attach writing samples. -Tell us if you’re working with a PR company, or if the city of Dubai or a private foundation is flying you somewhere. -Tell us if you’re pitching a review of your friend’s work. If you don’t tell us, we’ll find out anyway, and then we’ll be pissed and kill your piece. -We prefer pitches but will consider submissions. Introduce the piece and yourself in the body of your email (see above), then attach it. -Include relevant dates for a show/film screening/etc. in your pitch. Also link to a page with more info about it. -Tell us if you’re simultaneously pitching the same story elsewhere. -The daily and weekend editions of Hyperallergic have separate editors. If your pitch lands in the wrong place, or if we think it fit better in the other section, we’ll pass it along." The fundamentals of working with bloggers are the same as with traditional journalists at traditional media outlets: respect their schedules; take time to read their material to learn their interests; and only contact them if/when they want to be contacted. You will also find that if a blogger is a journalist for another outlet(s), Cision tracks their contact preferences there as well. The outlet offers RSS (Really Simple Syndication).
