Background and Format:LBC (Leading Britain’s Conversation) is Britain’s only national news talk radio station. It tackles the big issues of the day, with intelligent, informed and provocative opinion from guests, listeners and presenters, including Nick Ferrari, James O’Brien, Shelagh Fogarty, Iain Dale, Nick Abbot, Beverley Turner and Maajid Nawaz . The breakfast show drives LBC’s audience, with 70 per cent of listeners coming through to LBC via Nick Ferrari’s morning show Late night phone-ins have a large following and are key for listener retention The typical listener will tune in for 25 minutes Planning Editor Oli Sly works across all the station’s shows and is a good first point of contact for PRs. It is best to start by sending him an email with a brief overview of the pitch and follow up with a phone call if necessary.  Nick Ferrari’s setup producer, James Davies, is a good point of contact for the breakfast show. There is a daily editorial meeting at 9am, with a recap at 2pm. A weekly planning meeting takes place on Thursdays, though the team is happy to be contacted at any point, as long as PRs are clear as to why a story will appeal to LBC and its audience. Anybody pitching guest presenters would need to have high profile, national figures available. Potential guests would need to stand out, have name recognition and a very strong following. There are no automated programmes on LBC. Whilst a small number of programmes (typically ‘best of’ compilations and the like) are pre-recorded, a producer or studio manager is on hand should any major news stories break.
