About

Bio

Paul Cairney: Politics and Public Policy is an individual blog that follows the thoughts and ideas of Professor Paul Cairney. He states that 'so far, there are separate sections on public policy theory and practice, UK policymaking, public health policy and Scottish politics (and policy). There is a separate 1000 words section in which I try to condense discussions of key policymaking concepts into an arbitrary-but-useful number of words. The overall theme is comparative public policy – comparing policy theories, territories, policy areas/ issues and time periods.' The blog posts are written by Paul Cairney. Paul is a Professor of Politics and Public Policy at the University of Stirling. He started his lecturing career at the University of Aberdeen in 2004 and joined Stirling in February 2013. Entries in the Paul Cairney: Politics and Public Policy blog include 1000 words, Academic innovation or navel gazing, Agenda Setting, Alcohol, Alcohol policy, ESRC Scottish Centre for Constitutional Change, Evidence Based Policymaking (EBPM), Folksy wisdom, Japan, Public health, Public policy, Scottish independence, Scottish politics, Social change, Tobacco, Tobacco policy and UK politics and policy. PR opportunities include news and interviews related to Politics and News & Current Affairs, especially with regards to Scotland. Paul can best be reached via email at p.a.cairney@stir.ac.uk, telephone at +44 (0)7502 081 411 or his Twitter account.
