    WBTV-TV is the CBS affiliate on channel 3 serving the greater Charlotte, NC area. The station is owned by Gray Television Inc., purchased from Lincoln Financial Media in March 2008. News programs have regular segments on consumer, investigative, medical, and technology. WBTV-TV debuted on July 15, 1949. By September 1950, many North Carolina residents were able to watch network television programs produced in New York and Chicago. Then one year following that breakthrough, WBTV-TV produced its first local live program. It then continued to make technological advancements by airing a regularly scheduled program in color for the first time in 1956.
