About

Bio

Written to highlight all that life in Sacramento has to offer. Regular features include: architecture and design, politics, shopping and beauty, travel, family, home, outdoors, people and parties, food and wine and arts and culture. Among those awards is the Maggie Award for Best City & Metropolitan Magazine by the Western Publishing Association. Sactown was founded in 2006 by journalists Rob Turner and Elyssa Lee in an effort to bring a national quality magazine to California’s capital city. While Rob was born and raised in Sacramento, he spent a decade in New York City, where he met Elyssa at Money magazine. Between them, they have written for publications as diverse as New York, InStyle, Money, Fortune, SmartMoney, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Metropolis and U.S News & World Report. Sactown covers the region, from Davis to Folsom and from Elk Grove to El Dorado Hills, Roseville and Auburn. We are a city magazine in Sacramento and only cover topics related directly to the Sacramento region.
