Newsquest has produced apps of ten of its newspapers for the new Amazon Kindle Fire and Fire HD tablets. Apps have been created for The Northern Echo, The Oxford Times, The Argus (Brighton), Sutton Guardian, Worcester News, Stourbridge News, Hampshire Sports Pink, Colchester Daily Gazette, Swindon Advertiser and the Southend, Basildon and Castlepoint Echo. They are available from the Kindle Newsstand and have been developed in partnership with technology company PageSuite. It also provides readers with a blend of local, regional and national news and features. The application is available on a month's free trial to begin with and £4.99 a month thereafter. Next Monday, Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne will be Guest Editor of The Northern Echo. Current Editor Peter Barron will become Deputy Editor for the day. Profits from the sale of any newspapers above average on the following day will be donated to the Bannatyne Charitable Trust, as well as 10% of the proceeds from an advertising feature to commemorate his editorship. There have been recent changes made to The Northern Echo edition structure. The previous five editions divided into Darlington, South West Durham, Teesside, Durham North and North Yorkshire, have now been merged into two editions split into north and south areas. The north edition has been designed in line with boundaries of the new County Durham unitary authority.
