Created in July 2008, UOseful.info is primarily concerned with emerging technologies in open education and data journalism.
Author Tony Hirst is a lecturer in the Department of Communication and Systems at The Open University. Tony's background lies in electronics and artificial intelligence, his expertise in these fields has seen him author Open University courses in robotics, information skills, and most recently a course on computer game design and appreciation. Tony is passionate about open and life long education, and is regularly involved in developing course models to support informal as well as formal education. Tony is very active on his social media outlets, particularly Twitter where he regularly posts updates.
Tony uploads new content on a weekly basis, previous posts include: 'Regulating autonomous vehicles: land, sea and air', 'IBM data scientist work bench = open refine + RStudio + Jupyter notebooks in the cloud, via your browser' and 'Grabbing screenshots of folium produced choropleth leaflet maps from python code using selenium'.
